An April Night

The moon comes up o’er the deeps of the woods,
And the long, low dingles that hide in the hills,
Where the ancient beeches are moist with buds
Over the pools and the whimpering rills;

And with her the mists, like dryads that creep
From their oaks, or the spirits of pine-hid springs,
Who hold, while the eyes of the world are asleep,
With the wind on the hills their gay revellings.

Down on the marshlands with flicker and glow
Wanders Will-o’-the-Wisp through the night,
Seeking for witch-gold lost long ago
By the glimmer of goblin lantern-light.

The night is a sorceress, dusk-eyed and dear,
Akin to all eerie and elfin things,
Who weaves about us in meadow and mere
The spell of a hundred vanished Springs.

You Captivate Me

You captivate me
With your voice full of silence

You captivate me
With your eyes full of knowledge

You captivate me
With your touch made of sin

You captivate me
As a flame dances within the palm of your hand

You captivate me
As a river flows within the depths of your soul

You captivate me
As a whisper sings on the wings of desire
You captivate me
As the thought travels amongst the spirits flight

You captivate me
As the prayers ascend to the angels at night

You captivate me

Sharing one of my favorite poets Mary Oliver

The Journey

One day you finally knew

what you had to do, and began,

though the voices around you

kept shouting

their bad advice--

though the whole house

began to tremble

and you felt the old tug

at your ankles.

"Mend my life!"

each voice cried.

But you didn't stop.

You knew what you had to do,

though the wind pried

with its stiff fingers

at the very foundations,

though their melancholy

was terrible.

It was already late

enough, and a wild night,

and the road full of fallen

branches and stones.

But little by little,

as you left their voices behind,

the stars began to burn

through the sheets of clouds,

and there was a new voice

which you slowly

recognized as your own,

that kept you company

as you strode deeper and deeper

into the world,

determined to do

the only thing you could do--

determined to save

the only life you could save.

In the silence

of listening,

you can know yourself

in everyone,

the unseen

singing softly

to itself and to you.

Talk to Me

Talk to me

say the things you would say

If I wasn't here

that you didn't say

to her.

In the wild wet waste

Of a Whitby shore

under freezing stars;

Sit with me

and roll your words out

over the salt sea.

Talk to me

Of the girl in blue

and answer all the questions

All the questions I have ever asked

of you.

Talk to me

say the things you would say

If I wasn't here

That you didn't say

to her.

Today I Am Human

Today I Am Human

today I am human

I know this too well...

dark emotions within me

no longer they dwell

for sadness and loneliness

this day they have crept..

they've seized my whole being

and left me inept

these days past I've laughed

put thoughts forth quite merry...

yet today laughter is gone

all that's left is contrary

and the hopes, dreams, and wonder

which my heart has fully nourished...

lie in tattered shades of doubt

heart once hopeful...now discouraged

but that is today..this moment..right now

these sad feelings will soon disappear...

tomorrow the sun will shine once again

but today I am human, my dear.

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Tears, Idle Tears

Tears, idle tears, I know not what they mean,

Tears from the depth of some divine despair

Rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes,

In looking on the happy Autumn-fields,

And thinking of the days that are no more.

Fresh as the first beam glittering on a sail,

That brings our friends up from the underworld,

Sad as the last which reddens over one

That sinks with all we love below the verge;

So sad, so fresh, the days that are no more.

Ah, sad and strange as in dark summer dawns

The earliest pipe of half-awaken'd birds

To dying ears, when unto dying eyes

The casement slowly grows a glimmering square;

So sad, so strange, the days that are no more.

Dear as remember'd kisses after death,

And sweet as those by hopeless fancy feign'd

On lips that are for others; deep as love,

Deep as first love, and wild with all regret;

O Death in Life, the days that are no more.

Sonnet From the Portuguese

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height

My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight

For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's

Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.

I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;

I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion out to use

In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.

I love thee with a love I seemed to lose

With my lost saints,- I love thee with the breath,

Smiles, tears, of all my life!- and, if God choose,

I shall but love thee better after death.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Dance Me Around the Moon

Put your hand in mine
I will lead the way
Push through all the clouds
To the dance floor of the sky

So here we are amont the stars
Looking at each other
And with a twinkle in your eyes
The music begins to play

I lean in real slow
My lips, they ache for yours
Lights reflect upon your face
True love - it really shows

I can sense you have guessed
So the lights they dim
And the moment I have longed for
Dance me around the moon

- by glimmerwitch (Jan Mecke)
